Oh the memories! The sun, the sea, the amazing food! And now they even sent me a little reminder, just in time for x-mas.
Even though I’m getting rid of it soon, I just love this daft, slow, beigemoblie.
I simply forgot to pay the meter in the beautiful town of Novigrad. Got a €20 ticket. It was all in Croatian, so I had no idea how to pay it, and then it got lost in all the new impressions and that glorious food and the wine, and their honey schnaps...
See the ribbon? It was sealed at the back! Very official.
It’s a €200 and some change ticket now, ouch! Thankfully, this time it came with a translation into German and clear instructions where to wire the money to.

Ouch! Aside from that, would you recommend Croatia by car? I’m thinking of going on a road trip for a couple of weeks somewhere in April-June, and I’m currently looking at just about the whole of Southern Europe (Portugal, Central Spain, Italy, Croatia).

Yep, nice country! Just be aware that in the northern part they just don’t have sand beaches. It’s all sharp rocks. And they are very lackadaisical with ladders or so. As I live in an island with perfect sandy beaches now, I was a little underwhelmed. Get some sort of “swimming shoes”. In the south they have sand beaches.
And they can do spectacular things with calamari. Also lots of little winerys to visit if you are into that.

I’m not one to spend days on a beach, so not really an issue for me. Wine and food I do appreciate though, thanks for the tips!

My wife’s grandfather got a speeding ticket while on holiday in Italy some time in the early 1990's. He never paid it. Until the day I died every time I saw him he asked me “did you know I’m an international criminal?”

For some reason my mental image of Croatia is that it’s an island. I know it’s not but the name just sounds like something an island nation would be called, y’know?

Haha. I accidentally ended up in the cash lane for a toll in Puerto Rico (because I couldn’t read the signs for the pass lane). I hadn’t seen the cost and I backed up traffics for FOREVER trying to figure out how to pay. At least numbers and currency were the same.
